I dreamed you were a cosmonaut of the space between our chairs, and I was a cartographer of the tangles in your hairs

Words are funny funny things.  We say them, we use them, we manipulate them, we throw them away.  They can injure or heal us, bring us down from somewheregood we thought we were, or open our eyes to an unforeseen reality.  Yet the truth is, when you get down to it, they are meaningless, for they very rarely reveal the true intent or feelings of the user.  Words don’t count, intent does.  Words can lie, intent can’t.  If someone knows, honestly knows what your intent is, there is no way to change that.  Even if you force yourself to change your intent, your heart’s intent still stays down that same path.

Cause I can’t wait to figure out what’s wrong with me, so I can say “this is the way I used to be.”

May 14, 2008

I’m feeling an urge to blog right now but don’t really know what to write about, so maybe this post will become something at some point.  Maybe not.  I do this weird thing on short drives, i.e. to and from work.  I’ll be in a certain mood and their for want to hear a certain song, or a certain type of song or any song from a certain artist, but instead of going to that artist, song, or genre on the ITouch, I’ll put it on random and then skip skip skip skip constantly until I’m seventy five percent through the drive, and haven’t heard but a snippet of music.  Then I’ll finally give in, and just chose the song, artist, or genre I’ve wanted to hear the entire time.

They love to tear you down, down, down, Living in this sweet soul town…

May 12, 2008

There are several reason why I’ll pick a song as one I like, but for the most part what really attracts me, what really makes the song one of my big favorites is grandeur.  I love song that come together in an attempt to move you, because I feel it shows how much effort if really being put into the song.  It’s not just words being thrown out into the world, meaningless and hollow, in an attempt to make some cash.  They convey some feeling, some deep emotion that only you can truly understand, but can be described to an extent both lyrically and musically.   Read the rest of this entry »

Adams taking bombs and he’s stuck on his mom, because that bitch keeps tryin’ to make him pray.

May 7, 2008

I mainly have two platforms of which I listen to music with.  One is my Macbook, one is my ITouch.  Yes, I am an apple boy.  The two work in unison to create an ideal musical environment for me.  This is how it works:  the Laptop (being the faster downloading source with the larger amount of memory) is the music capital of my world.  Every bit of music (sans CD’s) I have is kept on there, and when I’m working on my laptop, or surfing on my laptop, I have it set on party shuffle.

You asked to kiss me goodbye, well you already did-on somebody else’s lips.

May 2, 2008

So my Itouch is freakin’ me out.  Freakin’ me out big time.  Two times, in two days it (Luke [yes I named it, deal with it, it allows me to say stuff like "nice choice, Luke" when it's set to random and one of my favorites come on, or when it follows a song with a nice fitting/flowing follow up song]) has, while set on random, read my mind.

Well the mob’s getting angry, and the torches alight…

April 30, 2008

Here’s the thing about music.  I can be split into two different categories:  Famous songs and not.  This is not to say that there are not a million was to split all the music in the world into a million different categories, but for the purpose of this blog, I’m splitting it into two:  Famous songs and Not Famous songs.

And who the deuce can parle-vous a cow?

April 1, 2008

I’m here again, stupid me, thinking that racism was dead in the world.  If anyone else thinks that, play Call Of Duty 4 online with your head phones on, you’ll see very differently in about five minutes.  My best guess as to why this is the case is that you don’t ever feel you have to stand in front of whoever you are spiting these terrible words at, and say it to their face.  The fact that you never have to face them means you never have to face what you’ve done, or even worse, that these people aren’t real, and therefore have not feelings.  They are dead to you and therefore you don’t care.  See, now there I go, ruining a fun video game for everyone by mentioning horrible things about it, I should just be like everyone else and complain about “noob-tubes” “martyrdom” and “juggernaut.”
The line of the blog title, in case anyone is wondering, is from a previously mentioned Andrew Bird song “How you gonna keep ‘em down?”  I have complaint about itunes.  So everyones going to hear it.  I love that the lyrics for a song can be downloaded onto my itouch, so that I can see them when playing a song.  However, why hasn’t itunes made all songs come with lyrics, so I don’t have to go searching the internet to find it.  They often do this, coming up with something great then need some time to catch up with themselves.  Accursed head of the game and there own technology Apple inc.  Curse you indeed.
Did anyone/everyone see AOL’s article about oldslowmobile, I’m sorry Oldsmobile coming back into the market.  It’s been bought by toyota, and the article is hilarious to say the least.  Enjoy.  So that’s about it for now, oh!  Except for the wonderful news about April 10.  The office returns!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My song recommendation of the day:  “Glimmer” by Aqualung, check it out.

I am what I am… thats popeye.

March 31, 2008

Hey there all, I wish to tell you this blog will be about anything specific, but the chance of that are about as high as the chances of anyone ever reading this. I’ll start off with music, as it is something close to my heart. I’d like to say that I have a specific taste in music but that would be a heinous lie. (Why heinous? I don’t know, but how else will the get “heinous” into a blog?) I’m not going to say the much cliched “I love every type of music” either, for I am not fond of rap, doo-wop and so on. My Itouch is varied, however, with pop, rock, metal, hard rock, R&B, ska, contemporary, prog rock, singer/songwriter, folk etc.

On the subject of folk, I’m now going to talk about the only folk I have on my Ipod, Andrew Bird. Wow. I mean this guy is just wow. I suggest him to all, for he is a joy to listen to. I have this thing with music, see, that I very rarely get into music very quickly, even if I know the artist already. There is only two artists/groups this isn’t true of: Andrew Bird and Muse (more on them later, I’m sure, especially with their new CD/DVD combo HAARP coming out). If I must comment on it, I found him by visting one of my favorite sites: Albinoblacksheep.com. Someone made a flash video with his song “Skin, Is” as the basis of the video. Loving the song I did some investigation, picking a random song that interested me. This happened to be called 11:11 (I liked the name) and soon loved that too. That was it, I found myself buying every little piece of music (of his) I could be my hands on. Still to this day, I am a big fan, especially with his new EP “Soldier On” coming out. This leads me to a rant about Itunes, but I won’t get into that.

I was in the shower and started coming up with a song, here is the chorus I came up with, probably I’ll try to come up with something more.

Why is the night sky exploding in fire in part of the world,
While the night is exploding with laughter in the rest of the world.
Why do you want me to hate the man next to me?
Why should I hate him because he prays differently?
It’s a work in progress, my apologies.

That’s all,
Adam.
